LaRue County Newspaper
Landmark News Service
A 41-year-old LaRue County man died Thursday night after being ejected from his pickup truck and thrown into a power substation in New Haven.
Johnnie L. Colvin was driving east on Ky. 52 in Nelson County around 8:30 p.m. when his vehicle dropped off the right shoulder of the road, New Haven Police Chief K.C. Holbert reported. Colvin overcorrected and ran off the left shoulder, sliding down an embankment and rolling several times.
Colvin, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, which came to rest against the fence of a Kentucky Utilities substation. Colvin hit the substation and was shocked.
He was transported by helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville and pronounced dead at 11:18 p.m. Holbert said alcohol and a high rate of speed were contributing factors to the wreck.
The collision also caused power disruptions in the area. Holbert said New Haven residents experienced a power surge that knocked out electricity for a few seconds while homes across the county line in LaRue were without power for hours. Kentucky Utilities said 52 customers were affected..
Please pray for his family and friends as they deal with their lost. And pray that he is in heaven with God.
